W3: Spirit Reborn

Turns out the student body can not keep the flow of spirit going. Just as motivation for academics fizzles, so does the push for our pride to shine.
Perhaps the seniorities kicked in or the newness of spirit revitalization wore off, but students can not stop cheering for the Mavs. With only two home games left, students need to support the basketball program as they finish the conference season.
Saying “Mavs til I die,” means supporting all the Mavs, all the time. We bleed the red, white, and blue, but only during football season. When will the students be a Maverick through and through all year round?
The love of the Friday night lights and the vibe of football games is over and it is time to give our spring sports a chance. Attend a track meet or support the baseball team as they begin their seasons.
To raise school spirit, seniors competed in the second annual Senior Color Wars during rivalry week. Team captains assembled their teams and filled the gym with camaraderie and lots of school spirit.
Tonight brings the second game of the basketball season against Northside. Last year, the team broke Northside’s winning streak and the boys hope for a repeat.
Homecoming and Color Wars proved that the student body is capable of showing spirit. We do not want our cross-town rivals to show us up tonight because of a lack of attendance and school spirit.
