Following a winning streak, volleyball swept cross-town rival Northside last week 3-0. The team continues the conference season with 17 wins.
“The team is having a great season so far. We are 17-2 on the season and in first place in the 6A-Central conference with a 7-0 record,” coach Steve Haaser said.
Outside hitter Avery Fitzgerald and middle Hannah Holland currently lead the team in kills, while libero Emily Bass and defensive specialist Montana Smith lead with the most digs. Middle Aleigha Johnson leads in blocks.
“We hope to continue our success and maybe compete for a conference championship. We just want to play up to our maximum capabilities,” Haaser said.
The ladies co-host the Fort Smith Invitational tomorrow. On Monday, they face North Little Rock on Oct. 2.
“Every year our goal is to compete for a conference championship. The better we do in conference, the better our seed is in the state tournament and the better our chances are of winning it. This year is no different. But we have a talented team far,” Haaser said.
