Coming back from last year’s rough 6-18 season, the boys’ basketball team entered with a new approach.
“I am very pleased with the start of this season, we treat every game at an equal importance and I believe that this season will have a better outcome than last especially because of our 4-2 opening of the season,” coach Charles Cooper said.
Starting off the season with an unexpected loss against Subiaco Academy, the team rebounded with an 81-41 win against Mena and a 58-51 win against Van Buren. At press time, the boys’ team prepared for the Arvest Bank tournament in Rogers.
During the Citizens Bank tournament, the boys won against Mena High School 81-43 and Van Buren 58-51 with a loss against Cabot 43-61.
“This season, the team is quicker and they run the floor extremely well so we have the ability to score more points in a shorter amount of time,” Cooper said.
Having multiple playmakers and defensive specialists gives the team ample opportunity to score both defensively and offensively as shown in the season’s kickoff games.
