Earning over 60 medals and trophies, senior Sydney Staton golfed All Conference and All State four years in a row and became an individual conference medalist in last month’s state match.

“I was super excited when I won conference. I’ve always gotten close but never actually won it. My goal was to go overall my senior year and I worked really hard to get there. I just played my best and hoped it was good enough to make it overall,” Staton said.

The top three scores determine a place in state. Since this achievement, Staton verbally committed to Arkansas Tech University with the goal of winning a national championship with their team. She plans to contribute as much as possible.

“Sydney is the only four time All State and All Conference player in the history of Southside athletics. That in itself is an accomplishment that might not be achieved again. Sydney will sign a National Letter of Intent with Arkansas Tech in November to play golf there next fall. I’m very proud of all the things she has achieved for herself and Southside. I know she will be a success at Arkansas Tech,” coach Pedro Sadler said.
