Recently, my friend made me watch Spider-Man: Homecoming which I ended up loving for several reasons. The movie follows young Peter Parker after his experience with the Avengers. He embraces his identity inside of the updated red and blue suit, which his mentor, Tony Stark, gave to him. Peter manages his normal school life as well as he can while also putting his powers in action as a way to prove his ability to his notable mentor.

Watching the Spider-Man movies as a kid, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were my favorites. The actors portray their characters wonderfully. This time around, Tom Holland (my current obsession) plays Peter Parker, replacing Tobey as my favorite Spider-Man. Not only can he act, he’s super cute too. Zendaya even appears in a few scenes as Michelle. Her attitude and sense of humor made an impression that made the Marvel movie even better.

The spidey superhero makes subtle jokes throughout the movie, which kept me laughing. One of the best parts plays at the very beginning of the movie when viewers see footage from Spidey’s point of view of the battle in Captain America: Civil War. The next best comical scene shows Spider-Man speaking to Aaron Davis (The Prowler) in a parking garage after he’d used his web to attach his hand to his car. He’d spoken to him with the “enhanced interrogation” mode on in his suit, which made the superhero sound more comical than intimidating. After Spider-Man told Aaron to wait a while as the webs wore off, Aaron complained about having frozen ice cream in the car.

Since he plays an awkward high school student, Peter’s character seems relatable to teenagers nowadays. From the gym scene where the girls obsessed over the town superhero to the scene where Peter and Liz pose in front of the camera before the homecoming dance, the movie fits in with 2017-2018 culture. I even noticed some of today’s trends in the film, like the New Balance sneakers everyone wheres at school.

The movie creates a hysterical, but action-packed atmosphere for all ages, which makes it so great. I for sure see myself watching the movie at least five more times in the next few months.
