Today’s favorite reminds me of 2012 Facebook, where colorful “Before I Die” posts littered the feed, but instead, we’re talking about my obsession: Pinterest. The handy app/site compiles all of my favorite pictures and ideas into one place. My most viewed board titled “Bucket List” holds special value to me.

My Bucket List board consists of a little bit of everything: places to go, food to try, people to meet, etc. Looking back at them, some seem pretty cheesy, including the one about kissing someone under mistletoe (HA). I need to reevaluate my ambitions.

So many of my dreams include traveling, and Pinterest boards keep track of dream destinations. Photos of magical-looking scenery lingers through my Bucket List as a reminder of how I have to work hard enough to make money to visit these cool places. Cities like New York, London, Athens, Chicago, and Dublin made the cut.

Anytime I accomplish something on my bucket list, I edit the caption and add a checkmark to it as a way to keep track. So far, I’ve tried yoga; I’ve gone to a Christian concert with my best friend; volunteered at an animal shelter (puppies and cute boys go great together); stargazed on a roof; gone to a drive-in movie (twice); and now I’m on my way to tracing my family history!

Of course some ideas are more realistic than others. For one, I don’t know if I’ll ever meet One Direction (13-year-old me saved that one). But, I definitely aim for completing most of my goals. Hopefully, I add a checkmark to the one that says “go on a mission trip.” I might see a Broadway play someday and mark that off the list, or maybe I’ll bake in the middle of the night with someone I love, which will likely end up being my best friend.

Creating a Pinterest board, or even just writing down a simple list, provides incentive for accomplishing tasks and activities. Start it and then keep up with it. I’ve built this Bucket List board for years now, and constantly look back at it for the sake of marking off what I’ve done and reminding myself what else my agenda holds.
