Sponsored by United Federal Credit Union and the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Clubs, students participate in Final Scream, a non-profit haunted warehouse owned by Jason and Dana Morland. 2017 serves as its 23rd year in business.

Volunteers serve as group-guides. Others dress up and scare those who walk through the different scenes of the abandoned building. They apply stage makeup for effect.

“When Jadan and I were little, her mom, Dana, would do our makeup along with many others. There is a costume room and a makeup room everyone gets ready in. Over the years, we have taken things into our own hands. We do our own makeup and we have our own choice of dressing,” volunteer Rachel McKenzie said.

A black hearse drives around town and if spotted, the driver gives out a free ticket to the haunted experience. Based on a first-come-first-serve basis, the first car to spot it receives a single ticket. Look out for one chance to win each day the warehouse operates.

“It’s a special experience because it’s volunteer work that creates a fun place for families in the community to go to,” volunteer Sean Garcia said.

Located inside Chaffee Crossing at 7704 Fort Chaffee Blvd, Building 310, the horror show costs $15 a person. Final opportunities to do a walk-through include Oct. 27, 28, and 31 from 7:30 to midnight.
