Workplace: Central Presbyterian Church

  1. What’s the interview process like?
  2. Why do you work there?
  3. How do you handle rude people?
  4. Are there any perks of working there?
  5. Where else would you work?
  6. Does this job help you prepare for future jobs?
  7. Is there anything extra we should know?

Julia Davis:

  1. The interview process was fairly quick and simple. The director brought me in and asked me why I wanted the job and what makes me think that I’d be qualified for the position.
  2. I work there because it is a refreshing and kind environment. I also work in my church nursery and have three little siblings-so I love kids. I also feel that this job will better prepare me for my future than a fast food job would. Not to mention,  the hours here are great.
  3. Sometimes parents come in upset and don’t treat us very nice. In that situation, I try to be understanding since they have been at work all day. I just try to tell them how the child’s day was and I let them know if they need anything, without pushing any boundaries.
  4. There are so many perks. Such as getting off at 6, a very flexible schedule, paid holidays, and a vending machine for the employees.
  5. If I didn’t have this job, I probably wouldn’t be working. I wanted something that would work well with school and allow me weekends off, which is exactly what this job does.
  6. This job helps prepare me for future jobs by teaching me how to communicate with my bosses and other employees, and it teaches me responsibility
  7. To work here, we must pass an FBI background check and we must also have a class in CPR.

Ali Hackworth:

  1. It’s stress free. I was able to connect with my now employer very well and she explained everything to me in a relaxed manner. She made sure I was comfortable.
  2. I love kids and getting to see my “babies” everyday makes me excited to go to work. It almost feels like I’m just playing instead of working.
  3. We don’t really deal with rude people. Occasionally a child gets hurt and the parents are a little upset that they weren’t with their child to comfort them but they always understand. We try to stay polite and agree that we could do better.
  4. I have a relaxed schedule with good pay. The daycare closes at 6pm so I have time to still hang out with friends or do homework. It’s great not having long hours.
  5. I’d work somewhere where I’ll be around children.
  6. I think it helps you learn motherly skills, if that’s considered a job. And how to deal with all kinds of people.
  7. We had to learn CPR.
